Hi, my name is Nobbie.  My siblings and I were rescued from an abusive home based on neglect.  Our mother was an owned cat since she was a baby, but was never spayed.  When she got pregnant this year, she had the four of us.  We all suffered from severe eye infections that were neglected.  As a result, several of my siblings lost one eye or both eyes and are now blind.  I am one of the two blind ones.

I was so happy and grateful when my foster mom rescued me, so I am a darling boy.  I have been through so much and am just so happy to be healthy and well taken care of now.

At the end of June I had surgery on both of my eyes.  See, the infection was so bad my eyes actually ruptured.  There was nothing resembling an eye left, just tissue at the back of my eye sockets.  I am lucky that Dr. Beer at Care Pet Clinic was willing to do the surgery on me when I was still such a small baby.  He removed the eye tissue and closed my eyelids.

A few weeks after my surgery, it was obvious some of my tear ducts were still in my eye sockets, so I needed surgery again.  Now my eyelids are both closed and I am healing really well.  There is just a bit of hair and skin covering where my eye should be.

I may be blind, but I have no problems learning a new room or finding my food and litter box.  My foster mom kept me and my blind sibling, Cleo, together in a bathroom for a bit longer while we recovered from surgery.  When she let me explore the bedroom, I learned where the litter box was, the food bowl, and the water dish within no time.

I have also been to adotions at the Petsmart in Grove City and I do really well there too.  I am quite good at adapting to any situation.  When you've been through what I have, what other option is there?

My foster mom thinks I am the most special boy ever.  There will never again be another like me, I have a tremendous amount of personality.  Everytime I went to Care Pet Clinic, all of the ladies wanted to hold me, cuddle me, and snuggle and talk.  I went from person to person in the office during every visit, everyone loves me!!

If there is any question about my ability to live a good, normal life, please see the book "Homer's Odyssey" by Gwen Cooper.  Homer is a blind cat (I resemble him) that has rescued as a baby with ruptured eyes.  When my foster mom heard about me, she immediately got the book from the library and read his story.  That book, along with videos on YouTube, reassured my foster mom I would grow and live a normal, happy life.  I simply needed alot of TLC, medical care, surgery, and affection.

Obviously I will never enjoy toys like laser pointers.  But, I love all types of textures, smells, and sounds from other types of toys.  If I find a furry mouse, I can play for a long time and entertain myself.  I also love anything that makes noise.  Those noises can help me identify where a toy is, how far is it to its location, what surface is it on, etc.  I am also a very tactile kitty.  If you cradle me and cuddle with me, I will often reach out with my paw to touch your face.

The most important thing to remember with me, all of my other senses are heightened.  I even have an advantage on a blind person because I have whiskers, which really help me identify my environment.

I may be blind, but it simply does not hold me back.  I am special and my foster mom has told me since that day in April, that I am the most special, loveable boy ever to live.  If it weren't for her and Dr. Beer, my fate would have been certain death.  It is all uphill from there!

Could you love me forever?  And promise never to let me suffer from an eye infection again that could be cured with a $10.00 tube of ointment?
